Senator Orders Nat. Assembly Staff To Be Slapped For Entering Lift With Her.

A sensational drama occurred at the Senate Complex of the National Assembly this morning as an aide of the Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Abiodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti), engaged a staff of the National Assembly in a squabble.

The drama occurred before the commencement of an ongoing public hearing of the Senate Committee investigating the issue of fuel subsidy in the country.

At about 11:30am, whilst stakeholders trooped in to attend the event, a ruckus erupted at the entrance of the venue, Room 0.22, Senate wing where aggrieved persons were seen shouting at the top of their lungs over an issue reportedly caused by the Senator and her aide, who could not be immediately identified.

OrderPaperNg gathered that Senator Olujinmi was on her way to attend the public hearing and she took the lift designated for Senators only, along with her aide.

Meanwhile, a congress meeting of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) was about to take place in another venue and an exco member of the association, who was also not immediately identified, entered the same lift as the Senator.

The perplexed lawmaker queried the audacity of the member and reportedly ordered her legislative aide to slap the EXCO member, an action that was said to have caused an angry reaction from the PASAN official.

As the lift opened, the NASS staff came out to meet the rest of his members and narrated his ordeal. At this point, some members of the association spewed some harsh invectives on the Senator.

It took the intervention of security officials to save the senator from possible physical attack. An annoyed member shouted: “From today, I will start entering Senators lift. No Senator will ever push me out of lift.”

It was gathered by our reporter that PASAN was holding a meeting to decide whether to commence a strike. The aim of the strike was not disclosed.

Journalists were prevented from taking pictures of the incident.
