The embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, John Oyegun, is currently under pressure to write his resignation letter.
The pressure came 48-hours after the ruling APC was humiliated in the just concluded Osun-West Senatorial election.
Moreover, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Timi Frank, said but for Oyegun’s inconsistency and highhandedness, the party would not have lost the seat to Ademola Adeleke, of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, who was denied the APC ticket after its screening and appeal panels disqualified Mudashiru.
He demanded the immediate removal of Oyegun, and cautioned that the APC would suffer more defeats in subsequent elections, if its stakeholders like the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, and its 24 State Governors, fail to address the challenges in the party.
The APC he said, should be restructured to remain in power, as the 2019 poll inches closer.
Also, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, while reacting to the outcome of the election when he met with Oyegun said: “We learn from everything, and we learn from defeat than we learn from victory. I think it is a good lesson in terms of organising and staying together in particular state, and avoid what is not collective in the party.”
