Eid-el-Fitr: Pray For Nigeria - Governor Bello, Gbenga Daniel

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has called on all Muslim faithfuls to keep the lessons of the Holy Month of Ramadan and continue to pray for Nigeria.

In his Sallah message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the Governor said the virtues of Islam must continue to guide Muslims in all their dealings with each other and those of other faiths.

He thanked everyone who said a prayer for the state and the nation in general, saying they would reap the full benefits of their belief in God.

The Governor also appreciated those who prayed for the well-being of political and religious leaders, especially that of President Muhammadu Buhari, as he recuperates in a London hospital.

“The virtues of Islam are grounded in love for our fellow man and living in peace with all our neighbours. Allah (SAW) in His infinite wisdom created us differently and knows best why.

“The lessons of peaceful coexistence, gratitude and benevolence, which we have been taught in the Month of Ramadan, must remain with us all through our lives.

“I felicitate with everyone for seeing the end of this edifying period and say Ramadan Kareem to you all. May the blessings of the Month be yours now and forever.”

Similarly, former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba (Engr.) Gbenga Daniel has congratulated Muslims on the celebration of the Eid-el-Fitri.

Daniel, in a goodwill message signed by his Media Officer, Ayo Giwa, said; “Muslims should be guided by the spirit of the period of total abstinence, keeping away from vices in all ramifications and imbibing the teachings and pious lifestyles of the Holy Prophet Muhammad”.

He urged Muslim faithful in the country to uphold the lessons of the Holy Month by avoiding all sinful acts that were abhorred and not allow them to become part of their lives after Ramadan.

The celebration of Eid-el-Fitri, he stated, “goes beyond merry making but rather, a period of total submission to the will of Allah as demonstrated during the fasting period.”

He urged Nigerians to continue to have faith in Nigeria and pray for the leaders.

Daniel appealed to citizens to reflect on how to contribute meaningfully towards making Nigeria great and pray for greater strength and unity in our diversity.
