Fashola Resign Over Death Of Youths In Calabar Viewing Centre

We hereby call on Fashola to resign immediately.

This can only be applicable in societies where human lives matter, and people take responsibility for their action or inaction.

In saner societies, the government would have strictly enforced the ‘no building under high tension cables’, but …

The Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola would have resigned by now. But in this case, he has not resigned, nor is he planning to resign to the best of our knowledge.

This is how the news would have read:

THE Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola SAN, has resigned following the reported death of no fewer than 30 persons watching the Europa League football match between Manchester United and Anderlecht in Calabar on Thursday evening.

According to a statement by the office of the Minister, the former Minister took full responsibility for the incident. He offered apologies to Nigerians on the sad event and condoled with families and friends of the deceased.

A panel has been set up to probe the incident. Observers say that heads of relevant parastatals in the ministry may lose their positions.
