JUST IN! APC SET TO SACK OKOROCHA AS CHAIRMAN.... TO BE REPLACED WITH SOUTH-WEST GOVERNOR

The governors under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) are making moves to replace Rochas Okorocha

as its chairman, Daily trust reports. According to NAIJ.com, the governors are focused on replacing their Imo state counterpart with another governor from the South-West.

Sources within the forum said the governors who might replace Okorocha may be; Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state and his Ogun state counterpart Ibikunle Amosun.

The source said the All Progressives Congress governors are currently not happy with Okorocha’s leadership as the chairman of the PGF. NAIJ.com also gathered that the Imo state governor is only concerned with ceremonial affairs of the forum rather than challenges facing it.

A source said: “Rochas is only interested in the ceremonial aspects of being APC governors’ chairman.” “At any public event, especially at the State House or where the president or vice president is present, he is in a hurry to assert himself as the PGF chairman and position himself close to the president or vice president for a photo op. But that is as far as his chairmanship goes,” he said.

“He is not interested in charting a clear program for the forum, in harmonizing the views of his colleagues or in making the forum an important player in the scheme of things, ” the source added.

He also said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a higher profile and more political relevance than the ruling APC governor’s forum. The source however, denied reports that there are moves by South-West APC governors to sack Okorocha who is the only APC governor in the South-East from his position as chairman.

“At a time when our ruling party is facing many leadership problems, such as the ineffectiveness of the national leadership and the continuous tussle between the Presidency and the APC-controlled Senate, APC governors could play an important role in filling the vacuum and reuniting the party behind a common ideal,” he said.

However, they are unable to do so because their forum’s chairman is even less effective than the national secretariat,” the source noted.
